Panthers, Seahawks compete in conference meet

Northside junior Andrew Harding won two events, while senior Panther Kiele Scott finished second in four at the Coastal Plains Conference track & field meet at Pamlico County High School.
Lejeune HS won the girls meet, while the host school took the boys competition. Northside finished third in both, while Southside was fifth in both.
Harding captured the 1600 (4:35.47) and 3200 meters (9:59.14) to lead the boys.
Freshman Colton Smith won the 400 meters in 53:53, while senior Tate Gibbs was second in the discus (119-9) and the shot put (38-7).
Faithful Fulcher was second in the 200 (23.77) and third in the 100 (11.61), while Jackson Steptoe was third in the 110 hurdles (19:33).
Nick Moore was third in the 200 (24.22), Deshawn Smith was third in the discus (110-9) and Jack DeHoog was fourth in the 400 (55.65).
Devonelle Brimmage and Jacob Taylor led the Seahawks with second place finishes in the long jump (19-10) and 300 hurdles (46.89), while Daylan Hardy was fourth in the 100 (11.83) and the 200 (24.29).
On the girls side, Northside’s Scott set the pace with second place finishes in the 800 meters (2:43.20), 1600 (6:09.27), 3200 (14:22) and as part of the 4x 800 relay team with Emma Boyd, Ava Hedgepeth and Bailey Singleton.
Teammate Deja Waters was second in the high jump (4-10) and the 200 meters (27.82) and took third in the 100 (13.26)
For Southside, junior I’Kiriyah Minor was third in the triple jump (33-9), Tamia McNeal was third in the 300 hurdles (18.20) and freshman Keymora Roberson was third in the long jump (15-2).
Khalia Moore finished fourth in the shot put (27-6) and discus (71-2), while Jaden Johnson was fourth in the 400 meters (1:06.45)
Both teams will compete in the 1A East regional next week at Wilson Prep.
