Mr. Richard “Dick” Earl Lasher, age 88, a resident of Cypress Landing, Chocowinity, died at his home Friday, April 19, 2024.

A small graveside memorial will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery.

Dick Lasher was born in Auburn, New York on July 10, 1935. He was the son of the late Gordon and Ruth Lasher.  Dick was a retired aerospace engineer working primarily on space re-entry systems. On June 22, 1957, he married Beverly Joyce Tibbits. They resided in Cypress Landing for the past 24 years, until her passing in 2021.  Dick spent his retirement years working as a highly skilled woodworking craftsman creating beautiful wooden pieces including furniture, toys, pens, and more. Dick has shown his work at numerous local and regional art and craft shows.

Dick is survived by two sons and a daughter: James Lasher and his wife Ayumi Yasuda of Baltimore, MD; Kevin Lasher of Norlina, NC; and Kathe Dellacecca of Villa Park, IL.  Also, Dick was grandfather of seven grandchildren: Emilia Dellacecca, Samuel Dellacecca, Forrest Lasher, Lily Lasher, Robin Lasher, Emika Lasher, and Yuika Lasher.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Chocowinity EMS, Attn: Brandon Elks, P.O. Box 574, Chocowinity, NC 27817, or the National Diabetes Fund.
