The Washington High School girls soccer team finished the regular season undefeated after a 3-0 home victory over Bear Grass Thursday. The Pam Pack (16-0-1) earned the sixth seed in the 2A state tournament and will host #27 Research Triangle High School (5-12) in the first round Monday.

Earlier in the week, WHS won its first Eastern Plains Conference championship in four years with a 2-0 home shutout of Farmville Central Tuesday night.

The Pam Pack did not allow a goal for the 12th time this season and avenged a 2-2 double overtime tie at Farmville two and a half weeks ago.
Washington has allowed six goals all year, while scoring 83.

“Our defense has been outstanding all year and we’ve done it with two different goal keepers,” coach Kendall Cox said. “Eileen Escalona started the year in goal, but hurt her finger a while back and Addison Gibbs has stepped up and played well. The girls in front of her have done a great job communicating when the ball is and we don’t allow many shots on goal. I’m super proud of being conference champs and we’re looking forward to the state tournament.”

Junior Jamie Perez scored twice Thursday to give her 36 for the season. Elizabeth Barrera Mesa has 15 and Angelee Higurera Dominquez has 14.

If the Pack wins Monday, they host the winner of #11 North Carolina School of Science and Math and #22 Wallace-Rose Hill.

Franklin Academy of Wake Forest is top seed in 2A.

Southside (11-7-3) drew the 13th seed in the 1A tournament and will host #20 Oxford Prep (5-11-1) Monday. The winner faces the #4 Hobbton-#29 Chatham Charter winner in the second round.

Senior Lilly Davis leads the Seahawks with 13 goals and 14 assists, while freshman Pricila Selvin Gomez has 12 goals.
