Woman killed in weekend shooting in Washington

A woman was killed in a shooting on Friday, May 10 in Washington. Officers with Washington Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Pontiac Drive.
At the scene, officers were informed that a gunshot victim had been transported to ECU Health Beaufort Hospital by a private vehicle. Officers responded to the hospital where 19-year-old Rakylah Barrow was being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper chest. A short time later, Barrow was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Further investigation by the police department revealed that the incident took place in the 1200 block of Maple Street. Detectives responded to the area and located a crime scene.
