The 1A/2A Coastal Plains All-Conference team consists of four Southside baseball players. Each player contributed to their 11-10 season (6-4 in conference play) and helped Southside win their first ever playoff game and later advancing to the third round of the state playoffs where they were eliminated by state runner-up and county rival Northside. All Conference players included the following:

Sophomore Taylor Ashley was the team’s starting catcher. Ashley led the team with a .456 batting average and managed to get on base 53 percent of his at bats. Head coach John Lohman said, “He was an anchor behind the plate, and he did a fantastic job for his first time catching at Southside.”

Sophomore Luke Bullock played multiple positions including second base, third base, and was formed a solid one-two punch in the pitching rotation with Cutter Williams. Bullock had a 4.20 ERA going 4-1 in conference play. “He came up big for us, especially with his shut-out gem in the second round against Chatham Charter,” Lohman said.

Junior center fielder Luke Perry was the team’s power hitter, batting in the number three spot in the lineup. Perry finished with a .367 batting average including nine doubles and one triple. “His solid defense in the outfield made him a team leader,” Lohman said.

Lastly, senior ace Cutter Williams, who finished the season with a 4.41 ERA. Williams was also great offensively at batting in the cleanup spot with a .404 batting average. Williams was also the team’s number one shortstop. “He was the lone senior this year and the undisputed leader of the team,” Lohman said. “His presence and leadership will be sorely missed next season.”
