K-9 search during traffic stop leads to felony drug arrests

On June 12th, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, with help from K9 Athos, arrested 44-year-old Benjamin Warren Bohrer of Washington and 29-year-old Ashley Nichole Jones of Chocowinity on multiple drug charges.
Their arrest stemmed from Deputies conducting a traffic stop on Bohrer’s vehicle and deploying K9 Athos, who detected the odor of an illegal narcotic. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle and Deputies located approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine and one gram of heroin.
As a result, Benjamin Warren Bohrer was charged with Felony PWISD Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond. Ashley Nichole Jones was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
