The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association picked five Washington High School softball players for the 2A All-District 1 post-season team.
Junior Emma Orr made the team for the third straight year and was named Pitcher of the Year.
Junior catcher Addison Miller was selected for the second time, while seniors Micah Lilley and Peyton Youmans along with sophomore Carly Woolard made it for the first time.
District 1 is made up of players from Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Currituck, Dare Gares, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrell and Washington county.
Orr pitched every inning except one for the Pam Pack, leading them to an 18-4 record and a trip to the third round of the 2A state playoffs. She struck out 238 batters in 128.1 innings with a 1.04 earned run average. Orr also hit .444 with five home runs and 20 runs batted in.
Miller bounced back from an eye injury that hampered her sophomore year to hit .465. 15 of her 33 hits were for extra bases.
Woolard, who moved from the outfield to first base, hit .478 with 25 runs scored and drove in 22 runs.
Youmans batted 350 with 26 runs scored, while Lilley hit .339 and played solid defense in the outfield.
“It’s great that those two ended their careers with this honor,” coach Brad Horton said. “They’ve played a big part in our recent success, and they earned it. Emma, Addison and Carly also put in the extra off-season work, and it paid off. “
