The south side is growing

While sitting on our pier the night of July 4th and enjoying the fireworks, Tracey and I noted the growth on the south side of the Pamlico River.

They had fireworks also! There were fireworks on the Southside more than ever before. The town of Washington had a display that went off without a hitch. Not to be outdone, on the north side of the river it seemed almost each beach had their own fireworks.

Seems like there were more than usual. Independence Day certainly came in with a bang! Edgewater Beach certainly put on a spectacular show as did Summer Haven and all the way over to Blount’s Creek!

I was telling Tracey how desolate it used to be. Now there are homes all the way from Fountain Boats to Blount’s Creek! There are no homes to buy on the south side of the river. How it has changed so much! There used to be Camp Hardee and Fort Hill and Whichard’s Beach on the south side and that was it.

I can remember how barren it used to be on the south side of the river, boy has it grown up now!

They were the best of times with the best of friends and in the best of places Washington, NC! The Original Washington!
