Whitecaps fall to Winterville

The combined Washington Whitecaps/Minges Makos summer youth swim team fell, 786-601, to the Tridents from Winterville earlier this week.

“They have almost double the number of swimmers, so it was actually a good showing for us,” coach Doug Parker said. “This meet was more competitive than in past years and our kids performed well.”

Lucas Blanks picked up a pair of victories in the boys 8u 25-yard freestyle (14.44) and 25-backstroke (18:09) and was part of the third place 100-mixed freestyle relay (1:25.24).

Cole Blanks won the boys 12u 50-freestyle (25.58) and was part of the first place 200-freestyle relay (1:40.43). He was second in the 50-butterfly (27.05) and third in the 100-individual medley (1:03.35)

Camden Hamilton was part of the winning 12u boys mixed 200-freestyle relay (1:40.43), took second in the 50-backstroke (34.56) and was third in the 50-freestyle (27.68)

Jordan Truesdell was part of the first-place 12u 200-mixed medley relay (2:16.74), while Isiah Fowler was part of the winning 14u 200-mixed freestyle relay (1:34.19)

Fowler was third in the 50-backstroke (39.51), fourth in the 50-freestyle (29>64 and fifth in the 50-butterfly (42.17).

On the girls side, Bella Fowler won the 14u 50-freestyle (24.31) and was part of the winning 200 mixed freestyle relay (1:34.19). She also finished third in the 50-backstroke (29.98) and in the 50-breaststroke (36.51)

Wallace Atkins won the 8u 2-fresstyle (15.41), took second in the 25-backstroke (19.03), was part of the third-place 100 mixed medley relay (1:34.87) and finished fourth in the 25-breaststroke (26.75)

Aubrey Makepeace was part of the winning 12u 200 mixed medley relay (1:54.12), finished third in the 50-freestyle (27.65) and in the 50-butterfly (32.76) and was fifth in the 50-breaststroke (37.31)

Ali Fowler was part of the second place 12u 200 mixed freestyle relay team (1:36.54) and was third in the 50-breaststroke (37.20).

The Whitecaps next meet is Tuesday at home in Minges against the Greenville Country Club Frogs.
