After 11 years of no college football video games, EA Sports released the long awaited “College Football 25”, and it has taken the sports and video game world by storm.

The last college video game released was “College Football 14” before EA was sued due to using players names, images, and likeness (NIL) without payment.

College football players were paid $600 by EA for their NIL to be featured in the game and most agreed, including former Washington High School standout and current Duke safety Terry Moore.

While wishing his speed rankings were higher in game, says it is still a dream come true for him. “I always dreamed of being in a video game, hoping one day it would be Madden. It is incredible that the opportunity came early,” Moore said. “About every single one of my teammates is playing this game, we enjoy playing online against each other.”

Moore is one of many enjoying the game. Game Stop employees said they have seen the excitement from the gaming community in Washington. Physical and digital versions of College Football 25 are now available to the public with the most basic version costing $69.99 without tax. It is available for all next-gen consoles including PlayStation five, Xbox series X, and Xbox series S.

EA is the same company responsible for creating the popular “Madden” games for NFL fans. It was not until the NCAA implemented NIL that EA decided to return to its popular video game.

On the morning of February 2, 2021, EA announced a college football video game would be returning.
On the morning of July 19, 2024, College Football 25 became available everywhere for gamers to purchase and play. The game features all 134 FBS schools and has made sure to implement traditions from each school.

College Football 25 features several game modes for fans to play and enjoy including Dynasty, Road to Glory, Ultimate Team, or online head-to-head games. Dynasty is a game mode where players can rebuild the school of their choice, recruit players, sign out of the transfer portal, and manage a college football team.

Road to Glory is another game mode where players choose if they want to be a two, three, four, or five-star recruit where they can commit to a college and work their way to a starting role, navigate NIL opportunities, maintain a GPA, be a leader on the team, and choose how you want to spend your time on and off the field.

Ultimate team allows players to build their dream college football team with past and present athletes and compete against other players.
