Two years in the making, River Walk Coffee Co. plans to open its doors to customers by the end of the month.
Owner, Reed Clark, said plans to open River Walk started two years ago when Giddy-Up, on Highland Drive, was the sole coffee shop in town. River Walk will be Washington’s sixth coffee shop (seventh if you count Giddy-Up’s two locations separately).
Before Clark could open River Walk, he had to wait for the new retail space on Bridge Street to be constructed earlier this year. River Walk is located on the left hand side of the new retail space, allowing them to have a drive-thru.
River Walk will offer patrons a myriad of drink options from specialty coffees, to refreshers, to hot teas. River Walk will be unique from other coffee shops in that they will offer fresh cake doughnuts; however, the doughnuts will be added to the menu at a later date after initial adjustments are made.
Small sandwiches and bakery items will also be available for purchase.
When customers are able to visit River Walk, they will be greeted by a casual, coastal atmosphere, Clark shared. The roughly 1,400 sq. ft. shop will have enough space for friends to meet for coffee, students to do school work and people to conduct business meetings.
Clark’s name may be familiar to Washington residents who have lived in the area a long time. Clark is the manager of the Washington Walmart, and his twin daughters – Jorden and Jaden – are members of the Northside High School softball team.
Clark shared that he will continue to manage the Walmart store and oversee the coffee shop. Clark’s significant other, Catrina Fisher, will be River Walk’s manager.
River Walk is located at 206 Bridge Street in Washington, across from the police station. As of publication, their hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
