F3 Washington is a men’s workout group in Washington led by the values of faith, fellowship, and fitness.

Starting in August of 2017, F3 Washington started out with two workouts a week and has since developed into six workouts a week. At the end of every workout, the group ends their time with a circle of trust and prayer where the men can discuss whatever is on their minds.

Continuously, people would bring up how they are impacted by substance abuse. According to statistics from The Blanchard Institute, in 2020 an average of eight people died every day in North Carolina from overdoses, and that number has been estimated to increase.

F3 Washington has since partnered with the Dare Challenge to help with the issue in the community. The Dare Challenge is a donation-based organization that helps people struggling with substance abuse.
The local group has raised over $20,000 for Dare Challenge by hosting a 5K race in April of 2023 and ’24 and are looking to expand their mission through a fundraising dinner.

They are partnering to host “A Good Man,” an event taking place on Thursday, September 5 to inspire change and support. The event will take place at the Washington Civic Center with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Attendees will be served a steak dinner, as well as having the chance to participate in their silent auction which includes items such as Fort Worth stockyard items, ENC Inshore fishing charter, a photography canvas, local patriotic artwork and more.

Following that, guest speakers from both F3 and The Dare Challenge will share their stories along with Keynote Speaker Mark Goodman who is the author of the book “Forgiving a Good Man.”

“Your money could not go to a better cause, everyone will experience mental health problems, substance abuse, or know someone who is affected at some point in their life. This offers those people a resource,” event spokesperson and F3 Washington member Brian Ward said. “When people get home from work, a lot of times people don’t talk about their problems like they should, we are going to have those hard conversations for you.”

There is limited seating for the event, and they will not be selling tickets at the door. Tickets cost $75 per person and all proceeds will go directly to both F3 Washington and the Dare Challenge as they are looking to build a new women’s recovery center in Wanchese. Go to Eventbrite.com and enter a good man into the search bar to buy tickets.

Ward said, “if one person walks through the doors and they make a better decision that next day, all our efforts will be worth it.”
