Frances Elks Potter, age 89, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Monday, August 19, 2024 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, August 25, 2024 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Pastor Darren Walker. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Elbert Boyd, Earl Elks, Michael Vick, Michael Arnold, Charles Elks, and Allen Lewis will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Potter was born in Pitt County on March 11, 1935 to the late William Marshall Elks and Annie Gurganus Elks. On December 26, 1953 she married Ottis Lee Potter, Sr. who preceded her in death on February 7, 2012. She worked for Washington Women’s Clinic for over 24 years. Mrs. Potter was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington. She was a former member of the WAC, at her church. Mrs. Potter enjoyed working in her yard, yoga, walking and spending time with her only grandchild.
Survivors include her son, Ottis Lee Potter, Jr. and wife Robin of Chocowinity, a grandson, Anderson Lee Potter and wife Abbey of Chocowinity, one great-grandson, Banks McGee Potter, and two special nieces, Kathy Potter Clark, and Kathryn Boyd Vick.
She is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ainsleigh Michelle Potter, six brothers: Robert Elks, Gilbert (Doc) Elks, Gentry Elks, O.C. Elks, Richard Elks, and Nick Elks. Two sisters: Geneva Elks Boyd and Mary Elks Clark, half-siblings: Guy Elks, Roy Elks, Nyman Elks, Leatha Elks Arnold, and Lucy Elks Arnold.
The Potter family would like to give special recognition to caregivers; Mona Holley and Donna Baynor, who provided specialized care.
The family will receive friends from 6:30PM until 8:30 PM on Saturday August 24, 2024 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.
