Winterville – Mark W. Rieman was born April 29th 1955 to his parents Dr. Al and Janece Rieman in Weehawken New Jersey. The youngest of two children, Mark enjoyed boating, sports, such as golf, racquetball, basketball and pool, where he earned his nickname “The Glove”. In his spare time Mark enjoyed competing in these activities and loved it when it was time to play Fantasy Football in the league he founded in 2004. Mark was a life long sports enthusiast, particularly of the Dallas Cowboys, but was associated with many teams. He was a Raider, a Coyote, a Cougar, a Pirate, and a Buccaneer and now he plays full time for Jesus as one of his Angels.

After moving to Rapid City South Dakota, Mark graduated from Stevens High School and attended USD in Vermillion. Mark then became involved in several different entrepreneurships before to returning to USD to receive his Masters in Accounting in 1993 and then to Washington State University to further his education and become a PHD in Managerial Accounting in August of 2003.

Mark moved to Greenville, NC to teach college for 20 years where he met the love of his life Carolyn Latham and married in 2007. Mark, retired from Charleston Southern University in 2023.

Mark poured his love and attention into his family. His loving wife Carolyn, his step-son Latham and his wife Kayla, his step-daughter Macey and his two beautiful grandchildren James and Malia, never went a moment without knowing that he loved them, as he showered them with support, in hard times and in easy. He was a devout Christian whose focus was Jesus Christ and sharing his faith with family and friends. His steadfast belief in the afterlife led him bravely through his fight against the dying light, and he was stalwart in this faith as he crossed the great divide.

Mark went peacefully at home with his family at his side, in the embrace of his loving wife as he basked in the warm new light of a beautiful morning as a cool breeze kissed his skin.

Mark is survived by his wife Carol, her children, his grandchildren, his Brother Al and his wife as well as his nieces and nephews. Along with his very best friends Dan Tracey and Mark DiSanto.

His family wishes to give their love and thanks to the hospice team that showed them incredible kindness and empathy as they helped Mark and the family through this chapter.
