Viola Faye Cherry Hamman, age 86, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday August 29, 2024 at ECU Health Inpatient Hospice.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday August 31, 2024 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington and will be officiated by Reggie Braziel. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Hamman was born in Beaufort County on September 20, 1937 to the late Evan Bryant Cherry and Annie Ree Jackson Cherry. She was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ and a Senior Regent of the Moose Lodge. Mrs. Hamman enjoyed shopping, dancing, walking, fishing, watching TV and talking to her sister.
Survivors include her three children, George “Danny” Daniel Hamman, Jr. of Chocowinity, Terry Lee Hamman of Pinetown, Bobby Hamman of Oviedo, FL, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Sue Cherry Jensen, of Washington, and two brothers, Bobby G. Cherry of Washington, and Donald “Duck” W. Cherry and wife Eva Lee of Pinetown.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George Daniel Hamman, and three brothers, Alton R. Cherry, Wesley Cherry, and John Lee Cherry. Condolences may be addressed to the family online by visiting www.paulfuneralhome.com
