One person was flown to ECU Health after a vehicle crashed into a large ditch, according to Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Department who responded to the scene.

They reported that a single vehicle left the roadway and was in a large ditch. Two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. Engines 10, 21 and Rescue 40 extracted the occupants.

“Our crews were able to extricate both occupants in under 30 minutes and turn them over to waiting EMS crews,” the department said in a social media post on Wednesday.
