Northside went out of Beaufort County last Friday to pick up its second win of the season and end a two-game losing streak.
The Panthers held off previously unbeaten Perquimans, 25-22. The other Beaufort County teams were not as fortunate as Washington fell to Kinston, 12-6, while Southside dropped a 47-8 decision to Martin County. Pungo Christian’s game at Community Christian out of Wilson was postponed Monday due to rain. A make-up date has not been announced.
Below are the top performances from the area for the week.
No. 1: Sincere Columbus, Northside: Rushed for 139 yards and a 12-yard touchdown.
No. 2: Zy’Marian O’Neal, Northside: 6 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries, one for a 48-yard touchdown.
No. 3: Keondrick Melton, Washington: Rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. His touchdown covered a yard and tied the game with Kinston at 6-6 with 10:01 left.
