Beaufort county emergency management officials are asking everyone to avoid the area of fifth street, from Third St to Carolina Ave. Officials are responding to an active hazmat incident at a nearby water treatment facility. Nearby residents and businesses are being evacuated as a precaution while hazard mitigation crews intervene.
