Local runners glow throughout downtown Washington

115 runners turned out for a 5K run in the dark through downtown Washington, over the bridge to Washington Park and back to Mac Hodges Festival Park. Saturday night as part of the 5th annual Hannah’s Heroes of NC Glow Run.
The race is held in memory of Washington Montessori Public Charter School student Hannah Cuthrell, who died in an automobile accident when she was 10. Proceeds from the race go toward a scholarship for aspiring teachers at East Carolina University and other projects that help children in the community.
Northside High School cross country standout Andrew Harding set a blistering pace and finished first overall in 16:37, well ahead of 17-year old Spencer Rundell of Greenville (18:14) and 13-year-old Terra Ceia Christian School runner Troy Wright (19:00)
15-year-old Saqm Andreu of Greenville won the women’s overall title in 22:35, followed by Terra Ceia runner Emma Spinner (25:38) and Knights coach Brandi Cagle (26:31)
Age group winners: Female 12U Savi Spinner (27:37) 13-19 Madeline Ange (32:34), 20-29 Alyssa Roscoe (32:39), 30-39 Casey Schulte (28:48), 40-49 Brittany Dail (28:13), 50-59 Lisa McHugh (34:17) and 60+ Diane Webb (32:48)
Male age group winners include 12U Jake Wright (21:49), 13-19 Coby Alligood (19:03), 20-29 Papa James (24:37), 30-39 Chris Campbell (25:05), 40-49 Ed Girard (20:52), 50-59 Mark Cagle (19:18) 60-69 Stephen Barnes (34:38).
