Top 3: Washington duo play big roles in team’s win

Washington’s football team went out of the county for its first win of the season last Friday.
The Pam Pack got some top performances from several players in a 41-28 win over Pamlico County. Pungo Christian Academy also won on the road, beating Mattamuskeet 50-14, while Northside beat Rosewood, 31-14. Southside went to Gates County and dropped a 12-7 decision.
Below are the top performances from the area for the week.
No. 1: Evan Makepeace, Washington: Was 4-for-9 passing for 125 yards and three touchdowns. He also had five carries for 10 yards.
No. 2: Keondrick Melton, Washington: Rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. He also had 3.5 tackles.
No. 3: Sincere Columbus, Northside: Rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Also had four tackles.

- Carr Eagles, Pungo Christian: 145 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries. He was also 9-for-12 passing for 217 yards and four touchdowns (60, 62, 42 and 52 yards).
- Max Vansant, Northside: Four catches for 26 yards and a touchdown receiving, seven carries for 29 yards and five tackles with two interceptions on defense.
- Anderson Thomas, Washington: 2 catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed five times for 53 yards.
- Parker Bird, Pungo Christian: 14 tackles, two for loss, two forced fumbles, a sack and a 60-yard touchdown catch.
- MyQuan Clark, Southside: Rushed for 78 yards on 15 carries on offense and 3.5 tackles on defense.
- Zy’Marian O’Neal, Northside: Had nine tackles.
- Jackson Walker, Pungo Christian: 10 tackles, 5 quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a sack.
- Malaci Moore, Northside: Six tackles, fumble recovery and an interception.
- Gabe Davis, Washington: Had nine tackles, one for loss.
- Tamari Moore and JaVonn McCall, Southside: Had 7 tackles each.
- Trexler Gray, Northside: Eight tackles, one for loss.
