Vendors participating in the 26th annual Smoke on the Water BBQ and Chili Festival should be on the lookout for suspicious solicitations.

Per an email sent to members of the Noon Rotary, a sponsor of the festival, a scammer has contacted vendors saying they are “coordinating the festival” and has requested that money be sent to a CashApp account. Vendors should “not trust anything but the official Smoke on the Water site which is smokeonthewater.info or by calling 252-944-6136,”  Pam Anderson said.

“Also if anyone has given money to Jordan Morris or anyone other than Washington Noon Rotary, they should contact the Washington Police Department,” Anderson said.
