Car chase leads to arrest and seizure of fentanyl and firearm

On Sept. 20, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Patrick O’Brien Coffey Jr. of Greenville, NC on multiple drug charges after a brief car and foot chase.

Patrick O’Brien Coffey Jr. had active arrest warrants from the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force and was spotted by deputies in Aurora, NC operating a vehicle. Deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on Coffey and he refused to stop. After a brief car chase, Coffey wrecked the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot. Deputies pursued Coffey and he was apprehended without incident.

As a result of this arrest, Deputies located over 15 grams of powdered fentanyl, $3,311 in cash, a firearm and a small amount of marijuana.

Patrick O’Brien Coffey Jr. was arrested and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $200,000 cash only bond under the following Beaufort County charges:

– Trafficking in Opium/Heroin (Fentanyl) by Possession

– Trafficking in Opium/Heroin(Fentanyl) by Transportation

– PWISD Schedule II Controlled Substance (Oxycodone)

– Possession of Marijuana up to ½ Ounce

– Two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

– Resisting a Public Officer

Patrick O’Brien Coffey Jr. was also served with active arrest warrants from the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force for the following charges:

– Four counts of Trafficking in Opium/Heroin

– Two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine

– Two counts of Felony Maintain a Vehicle or Dwelling to Keep/Sell Controlled Substances
