Cross country runners from the Triangle eastward converged on Boyd Lee Park in Winterville Saturday morning for the annual Bo Run meet hosted by D.H. Conley HS.

The Bo Run is named for Conley cross country team captain Bo Thompson who was killed in a 2005 car accident during the drive home from a football game.

Northside senior Andrew Harding finished second out of 101 runners in the championship division, as he covered the 5K course in 15:50, behind 3A Western Harnett junior Ethan Rich , who finished in 15:16. Harding was one of a few 1A runners in a field made up of runners from 3A and 4A schools.

The Terra Ceia Christian School boys team won the invitational division, out-running much larger Nash Central, Athens Drive, Farmville Central and Washington on the way to the title.

“It was a great day, TCCS coach Brandi Cagle said. “We were excited to race against much bigger schools and our varsity boys victory was proof of the hard work they’ve put in all summer and during the early part of our season. Our middle school runners also did well and I’m proud of all of them.”

Terra Ceia 8th-grader Troy Wright finished fourth overall in 19:25, just ahead of Washington’s Manuel Meza, who was sixth in 19:45. The Knights freshman Tanner Carawan (19:550 and sophomore Coby Alligood (20:15) were eighth and 11th, followed by Pam Pack junior David Barrera (15th in 20:27), TCCS sophomore Levi Wright (19th in 20:450 and senior Dustin Carrow, who finished 25th in 21:27.

Freshman Solomon Boltes (29th), junior Louis Miller (39th) and freshman Tripp Dunn (45th) completed Washington’s team scoring.

Junior Lydia Smith led the Washington girls with a 10th place finish in 26:45, followed by classmate Keelyn Plunkett in 12th place (26:48), senior Reagan Fisher (18th in 27:470 and sophomore Eva Hill, who was 21st in 28:04.

“Manuel and David haven’t run many meets because they also play soccer, but they ran well for us Saturday,” coach Dawn Landen said. “Solomon Boltes ran a personal record and keeps getting faster. Our girls ran together as a pack and the great competition was good for all of them.”
