YEATESVILLE, N.C. – The Bam Adebayo Foundation gave the first of two checks out to the schools where the NBA star once attended in Beaufort County.
On Oct. 4, the foundation presented separate checks for $10,000 to Northeast Elementary School and Northside High School, where Adebayo once attended. It was the first-of-its-kind checks given out by the newly-created organization from the former high school and current Miami Heat NBA star.
The presentation was made during last Friday’s homecoming ceremonies at Northside.
The Bam Adebayo Foundation is based in Greensboro and aims to help organizations in the state. Adebayo also has the BBB Foundation, a nonprofit that serves the Miami and South Beach area.
“Being a small school with multiple sports, clubs and activities takes money to operate,” Northside Athletics Director Jared Adams said. “Every ticket sold, fundraiser, and donation gives each student and athlete a chance to have the resources needed to be successful.”
Northside and Northeast officials said they were grateful for the donations and were exploring their options on how to use it.
Marquita McCulley, the director of the Bam Adebayo Foundation, said they were happy to make the presentation. She also said Adebayo is always willing to give back to here and where he currently lives.
““Bam’s philanthropic endeavors have no limits,” McCulley said. “His story is the epitome of the rose that grew from concrete. Not only did he grow, he continues to nurture and water the same roots and soil in which he came from and where he currently resides.
“BBB- Bam, Books, & Brotherhood represents Florida and BAF- Bam Adebayo Foundation represents North Carolina.Bam has assembled a dynamic team to complete his foundation’s mission to change lives for single mothers while developing future chances, choices, and challenges for children.
“We would like to thank Kristen Riddle and the Beaufort County School District for their continued partnership to inspire and uplift the 252 community.”
