A motor vehicle accident on U.S. 17 claimed the life of a Canadian man on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Ross Malcolm Steckley, 67, of Ontario Canada died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 17 North and Woolard Road- about eight miles from Washington, according to Senior Trooper, Christopher Williams with North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Steckley’s 2022 Kia Soul ran off the road to the right, struck a culvert and overturned several times. The crash occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m.

No charges are being filed as Steckley was the only occupant and his vehicle was the only one involved.
