Belhaven hosts second annual Trout Tournament and Festival

DTF, a team of fishermen from Wilmington, beat out 56 other teams to win the top prize at the 2nd annual Belhaven Trout Tournament. At the tournament, DTF announced that a portion of their earnings would be donated to relief efforts in western North Carolina. 

The two-day event wrapped up on Oct. 12 after the teams took part in the fishing. There was also a festival that included children’s activities, a pig cook-off contest, auctions, vendors and more. 

The winners of the pig cook-off were: Joseph Hudnell; Big Rigs & BBQ (Jeffrey Harrell) and Schrams Beach BBQ (Clay McArthur). 

The funds raised went to the Beaufort County College Foundation to fund scholarships.

There were 50 teams that caught fish that were weighed each day. Three others caught fish on the first day only.

Unofficial results had DTF with a total weight of 29.19 pounds, including 15.8 pounds on the first day. UFO-Pamlico out of Wilson was second at 28.37 pounds while The Right One … Baby out of Swansboro was third at 24.56 pounds.

Send It! was the highest-ranked team from Beaufort County. The Washington squad had catches totaling 22.99 pounds.

Reeltime, which is from Belhaven, won the Junior Leaderboard top spot. Tyler Radcliffe, the team angler, had two catches totaling 4.89 pounds. 

Bay Rider Madness and Callen Cox, who are from Pinetown, was second with catches totaling 4.41 pounds. 

Bricklayers and Wesley Harrison, who are from Washington, was third with catches totaling 4.23 pounds.
