Personal statement: 

I was born and raised in Beaufort County, and I graduated from Washington High School. I am married to Heather Hudson, who was also born and raised in Beaufort County and graduated from Northside High School. Together, we have two children, a 15-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son who attend Beaufort County Schools. I believe in and live by my core values; respect, courage, trustworthiness, self –discipline and accountability. I hold in high regard traditional American values such as, individual freedom, self-reliance, equal opportunity, competition, and hard work. Our children will not have individual freedom if they are not self-reliant. They will not be self-reliant until they can take care of themselves. They will not have equal opportunity if competition is removed. Last but not least our children will never achieve the American dream if they don’t know the value of hard work!

When Covid started making impacts across the state, I became greatly concerned about the impacts this would have on our children.  On March 16, 2020, I attended my first school board meeting. On the agenda that evening was the State of Emergency and school closures. That night, I knew I had to get involved at a higher level.  Over the past four years, I have made it my mission to attend as many school board meetings as possible and to educate myself as much as possible on the business of Beaufort County schools.

If elected, I will listen and seek to have direct communication with parents, educators, and administrators. I will work to create an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning where students, parents, and staff, regardless of status, are able to speak up and share suggestions and concerns without fear of judgment or retaliation. I will work to reduce staff resignations and increase morale across the district.  I will fight to restore and protect parent’s rights and to provide transparency into their children’s education. I will support materials and curriculum that align with traditional American values. I’m asking for and would greatly appreciate your support!
