I am happy to say Tracey and I celebrated our wedding anniversary last week. We celebrated by just staying home at the river. I didn’t go to Shep’s diner for breakfast, as I usually do, and we waited until Thursday to celebrate with friends and family.

We got up Thursday morning and Tracey had her Book Club. She had invited Franny and Val Johnson, Grace Bonner and Tracey’s sister,Wendy Earle to dinner.

Tracey and Ms Grace got to know one another when she was working at Bloom. They carried their friendship forward to the book club. Franny and Val Johnson have been friends of ours for years. Franny and Tracey have grown to be great friends and Val and I went to high school together and were classmates.

Ms Grace said something to me I already knew. She said, about Tracey, “She loves everybody and everybody loves her”. She made my night! I have been waiting 14 years to hear that comment from someone else. I had known it from the start but it confirmed what I knew for someone like Ms Grace to tell me. Ms Grace is a lovely class act inside and out.

Tracey is a special person and one I am proud to have married. As I told you, friends of mine have adopted her and taken her under their wing. She is a beautiful woman and Tracey has said, “I will always take care of you” ! What more can a husband ask for?

They were the best of times with the best of friends and in the best of places, Washington, NC ! The Original Washington!
