Washington man facing charges for possessing cocaine within 1,000 feet of a child care center

On Nov. 14 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations arrested John Albritton, age 75, of Washington, NC on felony drug charges. This arrest stemmed from Deputies conducting a search warrant on Albritton’s residence located at 809 Fleming St. in Washington after receiving numerous complaints about drug activity.
As a result of this arrest, Deputies seized 9 grams of cocaine packaged for resale, $1,022 in US currency and drug paraphernalia. John Albritton is currently on Federal Probation from previous felony charges out of Beaufort County.
John Albritton was arrested and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond under the following charges:
– Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine within 1,000ft of a Child Care Center
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
This investigation is still on going and more arrests are expected.
