Belhaven native given Distinguished Service Award

RICHMOND,VA —Douglas Gregory “Gregg” Paul, Sr. was awarded the 2024 Dianne Riley-Gray Distinguished Service Award during the University of Mount Olive (UMO Annual Alumni Awards Ceremony as part of Homecoming Weekend. A dedicated alumnus, Paul was recognized for his unwavering commitment to the University, leadership within the alumni association, and distinguished professional career.

Originally from Belhaven, NC, Paul is the youngest of six children. His parents, Dallas and Verena Paul, were ardent supporters of Mount Olive College (now UMO), inspiring their two youngest children to attend. In 1972, Paul enrolled at Mount Olive, focusing on religion and business studies. He graduated with high honors in 1974, earning an associate in science degree.

Following his time at UMO, Paul earned a degree in theological studies and his MBA from Oral Roberts University (ORU). Most of his professional career has been in financial services, requiring considerable domestic and international travel. He transitioned to a global client services leadership role at a North Carolina-based reward and recognition company in 2016. Paul received numerous professional performance accolades throughout his career, often crediting MOC for his foundational education. He has been retired since 2020.

Serving on the UMO Alumni Board for over 20 years, Paul has held various leadership positions, including two terms as President. He is a consummate supporter of his alma mater with his time and resources.

Paul and his wife, Glenda, reside in Richmond, VA. They have three adult children and eight grandchildren.

The Dianne Riley-Gray Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the University of Mount Olive. Paul’s tireless efforts and years of commitment to UMO make him deserving of this prestigious honor.
