The Christmas Candlelight Homes Tour in Belhaven is all set for this Saturday, December 7. For the last several years, residents have opened their homes for people to come in and tour their festive Christmas decorations. The tour will feature four to six homes, including the reception home.

“All of the homes will be revealed on the night of the event,” said Carol Roop, executive director of the Belhaven Chamber of Commerce. “The chamber located at 265 East Water Street will be open at 5:30 for those wishing to purchase tickets and for everyone to check-in. Brochures of the homes on the tour will be passed out at that time. Those attending will be assigned the first home to prevent any bottlenecks, with the reception home being the last stop for every one. The tour runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.”

Last year, the reception home was the historic River Forest Manor along the shores of the Pungo River, which will be on the tour again this year as it is under new ownership. “The home has been professionally decorated throughout and now has a gift shop,” said Roop. “It definitely will be a must-stop for everyone.”

Tickets for the tour are $20 and can be purchased in advance by calling or texting Roop at 252-732-5190, stopping by the Chamber Tuesday-Friday between 10 am and 4 pm, or purchasing the night of the event. Proceeds go directly to the Chamber of Commerce and are used for beautification projects throughout Belhaven.
