Local runners excel in Greenville race; two Washington wrestlers shine at tournament

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Several runners from the Beaufort County area excelled in the annual Reindeer Dash for Cash fundraising race last weekend in Greenville.

Money from The Reindeer Dash for Cash benefits the Captain Cash Memorial Foundation of NC, Inc. According to its website, all proceeds are awarded as college scholarships at East Carolina University, ECU Army ROTC, ECU Air Force ROTC, NCNG Association Educational Foundation, and NC Wesleyan College.

Christopher Cash died while serving his country on June 24, 2004.

Boltes wins, Perry 2nd for Washington wrestling

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.C. — Two of Washington High School’s wrestlers finished first and at the Nate Isenhour Eye of the Tiger tournament, held at Mount Pleasant High School last Friday and Saturday.

Sam Boltes won at 106 pounds. He picked up four victories, all by pin. He pinned Aiden Burkholder of Trinity High School in 1:40.  

Bryce Perry finished second at 126 pounds. He advanced to the final with three wins, one by fall, before falling to Aiden White of Weddington by technical fall.

Andrew Foreman (120 pounds), Brennon Warren (138), David B-Meza (144), Brian Salinas (215), Trenton Baldree, Cooper Johnson and Tucker Massie also participated in the event.
