Poking fun at my friend

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Jack Mitchell calls him “the Mayor of Slatestone. “He rides around with his dog, Taco, in the front seat. Everybody makes fun of his hair at Shep’s Grill in the morning but he can’t help it because he was in a car accident years ago. I know you know who I am talking about- Jerry Alligood!

He is the only person at our table at Sheps that didn’t play a sport. Some ask him the scores from the weekend and he can’t tell you, but he can tell you how hard he worked as a boy!

He pokes fun at my cow lick in the morning. I can’t help it if I have more hair than he does. Earl McKissick picks on him all the time about wearing a baseball cap. He gave him one two weeks ago. Sorry Earl.

Shady Brantley has become Taco’s best friend at the table, because he feeds Taco all the time from his scraps .

The only person who saves Jerry from criticism is Bill Outland, when he shuffles into Shep’s Grill.

We hate it when he goes grocery shopping for he will stay home in the morning and warm something up, instead of meeting us for breakfast.

The only time that gives him peace is when he’s in the hospital due to lack of oxygen. He is as ornery there as he is at the table at Sheps. Rumor has it that he was tied up in the hospital.

Jerry Alligood is not as bad as he sounds, he is a good fella. He is a pretty nice person and he deserves the honor of calling him “the Mayor of Slatestone” like Jack Mitchell calls him. He is a good person and an even better friend!

Jack Mitchell has not been with us since he broke his leg. We miss you Jack and we are ready for your full recovery.

They were the best of times with the best of friends in the best of places Washington, N.C. The Original Washington!
