The Purpose of God Annex’s Miracle Meals will relocate to 1512 W. 5th Street. The move was necessitated after the building where it had been located for the last three years, 712 River Road, was sold.
“We are going to start moving everything over to the new building on Monday, December 16,” said Bishop Samuel Jones, Jr., founder of The Purpose of God Annex. “The new space accommodates everything we need and is, in fact, a little larger than the old location. The only thing it does not have are walk-in refrigerators, but we have taken care of that by purchasing three seven-foot chest refrigerators. The new location on 5th Street is more accessible and visible and will certainly draw a new crowd.”
Jones said the fact that they found the new building in such a short period was a miracle unto itself, as there had been nothing on the market for quite some time. “You always hear me talking about God and miracles,” said Jones. “Mother Jones and I sat down one evening and prayed together. The next day, five locations opened up, and the one we leased wasn’t even listed yet.”
The first day of operation is scheduled for January 2. Until then there is plenty to be done, between moving, cleaning, and final electrical work. “If I could move in today, I would,” said Jones. “But we certainly have plenty to keep us busy between now and the first of the year.”
Miracle Meals provides free food such as bread, produce, canned goods, snacks, cakes, drinks, and meat to those in need. Its last day of operation for the year was December 12.
