Michael Bryant Dowdy

Michael Bryant Dowdy, age 69, of Washington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024. Born on June 1, 1955, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Francis and Cecil Dowdy, Michael was a tremendous man with deeply rooted faith, an unwavering moral compass, and a genuinely kind heart.

In his life he was a lover of nature and science, mountain climber, railroad enthusiast, salesman, golfer, Freemason, Shriner, skeet shooter, and disciple of Jesus.

Michael was the beloved husband of Susan Dowdy and cherished father to his daughter, Katie Taylor, and father-in-law to Will Taylor. His role as “Granddaddy” to Hannah, George, and Micah was one of his greatest joys.

Predeceased by his parents and his sister, Donna Thomas, Michael’s memory will be held in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A celebration of life is planned for Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Good Shepherd in Washington, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
