On December 21, 2024 at approximately 1:47 a.m., the Washington Police and Washington Fire-Rescue and EMS Departments were notified of a potential missing person from the Washington Docks.  Through the investigation, it was determine that a boater fell in the Pamlico River. The Sidney Dive Team and the Bunyan Fire Department were contacted for additional resources.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Sidney Dive Team located the missing boater.

The victim is identified as William Foster, a 56-year-old white male.
