At approximately 1:50 pm on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 21), Beaufort County first responders were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Goose Creek Road and US 264 in Washington.

The nature and cause of the accident were not immediately known, pending an investigation by the NC Highway Patrol. First responders pronounced the driver of one of the vehicles dead at the scene. There was one passenger in that same vehicle, and that person was transported to ECU Health in Greenville with serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital for treatment. That person’s status is unknown at this time. That vehicle had no passengers.

Identities of the individuals involved in this crash are not being released at this time, pending family notifications.

Bath Fire Department, Bunyan Fire Department and NC State Highway Patrol also responded to the crash.
