Pam Pack lose first game, go 1-2 at holiday tournament

Washington’s basketball team lost for the first time this season and finished 1-2 at the Greenfield Holiday Tournament, which finished up Saturday in Wilson.

Washington beat Fayetteville Academy, 79-67, in the first day of the tournament, which was this past Thursday. Chaise Smith led the Pam Pack with 23 points, five assists, two rebounds and a steal. Jarryn Payne (16 points, six rebounds, two steals), Jacob Daniels (16 points, three 3-pointers) and Javon Williams (13 points, eight assists, six rebounds) also reached double digits for Washington.

The Pam Pack then dropped close contests on Friday and Saturday. Washington fell 68-66 to Peninsula Catholic, a team from Newport News, Va., on Friday. On Saturday, Washington lost a tough 68-67 overtime decision to Harrells Christian Academy. No other details were available on the last two games.

Washington is now 7-2 and faces Garner on Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Millbrook High School in Raleigh in the John Wall Invitational.
