The first baby to be born at ECU Health Beaufort in Washington was Kaylee Manning, of Stokes. Manning was born at 9:06 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Manning weighed five pounds, four ounces and measured 20 inches long. Her parents are Alexis Beddard and Kazhaun Manning. Beddard, of Stokes, said her daughter’s arrival was unexpected at 36 weeks and four days, but was a great surprise.
“We are honored to be part of this joyous occasion and to support this wonderful family as they welcome their bundle of joy,” ECU Health Beaufort Hospital said in a provided statement.
“We would also like to extend our gratitude to our volunteer services department for donating the first baby of the New Year basket, a long-standing tradition here at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital. A special thank you to Miah Baby Company in Washington for their donation and to Linda Mewborn for the beautiful handmade crocheted items,” the hospital continued.
