The Purpose of God Annex’s Miracle Meals rang in the new year with the official grand opening of its new location at 1512 W. 5th Street. As shoppers entered the new location, they were greeted by staff and the founder of the Purpose of God Annex, Bishop Samuel Jones, Jr.. “We are so excited that this new day has arrived,” said Jones. “We are not only grateful that we can continue to accommodate the community in need but also to provide our staff with a more workable environment and facility.”
First-time shopper Cheyenne Ledford, who moved to Washington from Oklahoma, was visibly touched by the experience. “I think this is amazing for our community,” said Ledford “To move to a small town that has something like this and is available to whoever needs it is so wonderful.”
Jones added he and his staff have gone the extra mile to make sure the community knows they have put their best foot forward. That means a clean facility, an organized operation, and the best food that can be provided. “We take pride in what we give them,” said Jones. “We want them to see and feel all of the love that we have put into this and not feel like they are receiving charity. We want them to feel proud when they walk out of here.”
The move to the new location was necessitated after the building where it had been located for the last three years at 712 River Road was sold.
“I can’t thank our board members and all of our sponsors who sent in donations during the holiday break to make sure we had some legs to stand on when we started up again,” said Jones. “I would also like to thank the owner of the facility, Zane Buckman, for working with us. And, of course, the citizens of Beaufort County for the love and concern they have in helping us do what we do. God deserves all of the credit, not Bishop and Mother Jones. We are just part of His assignment.”
Miracle Meals is open each Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
