The roundabout on US264 at NC32 North has been opened for several months now. Some drivers are still having difficulty navigating the intersection and understanding which lane to get in to.

Drivers traveling east or west on US264 will use the inside (left) lane to enter the roundabout.

All right lanes are designated for turning right at the intersection. This allows drivers to bypass the roundabout.

Drivers turning right onto US264 from Broad Creek Road will briefly enter and exit the roundabout as there is no bypass lane.

Remember all vehicles entering the roundabout must YIELD to traffic that is already traveling through the roundabout. Cars are not required to STOP unless a vehicle is approaching, preventing them from safely entering the roundabout.

The main issues observed at the intersection are vehicles stopping unnecessarily, failure to choose the proper lane, and vehicles crossing concrete medians and striking signs. The graphic above shows an arial of the intersection to give motorist a bird’s eye view of the lane layouts.

Pay attention when entering the intersection and be alert of other drivers.
