GREENVILLE — After having to postpone the scheduled first day of spring practice because of wet conditions Monday, the East Carolina football team had a glorious day to hit the field Wednesday.
Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted the defending Conference USA champions.
Defending end C.J. Wilson, a former standout at Northside High School who received numerous postseason honors last year, was excited to return to the field
Gerald Lawrence, a former Washington Pam Pack star, went through his first spring practice as a fullback. He switched from linebacker with hopes of getting on the field right away.
The team will go through another practice in light gear today, before putting the pads on for the first time Friday.
This is the time to get an opportunity to spend a lot of time with your players, and work a little bit more on what we do and the fundamentals instead of trying to game-plan for opponents.”
The team focused on techniques and fundamentals on the first day.
The session will culminate with the playing of the Purple-Gold Spring Game April 16 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
