Joseph Latham Styons, 58, of Schooner Dr. died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 2:00 pm, at the Roosevelt Drive Church of Christ. Reverend Jim Bender will be officiating.
Mr. Styons was born in Plymouth, NC and was the son of the late Samuel and Virgie Davis Styons. A sister, Linda S. Ange of Cary, NC also preceded him in death. He was an educator and taught at Swansboro Middle and Swansboro High Schools for 10 years. Mr. Styons proudly and honorably served his country with the United States Marine Corps and retired with 23+ years of service and the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Mr. Styons is survived by his loving wife, Alie Catrett Styons of the home; two daughters, Betsy Styons of Jacksonville, NC and Jackie Styons of Jacksonville, NC; one son, J.R. Styons and his wife Tammy of Murfeesboro;, NC; one grandson, Chase; two sisters, Janice Hall of Wake Forest, NC and Cheri Hardison and her husband, Tim of Austin TX: two brothers, Samuel Styons and his wife, Susan of Plymouth, NC and Gary Styons and his wife, Kelly of Naples, ME.
The family will receive friends, at the front, of the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Hope Lodge, 930-A Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.
A special thank you is given to the staff of Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Styons will surely be missed by everyone who knew him or whose life he touched or inspired.
