Mrs. Rosa C. “Baby Sis” McNair-McCray, 85, a resident of 2920 Woodlawn Road, Roper, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Second Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Hubert Judon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. McNair-McCray was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Roper. She was the daughter of the late Rev. James A.G. McNair and Janie Garrett McNair. She was a retired teacher and church musician. She was married to James T. McCray, who survives, for 62 years. She was a member of Second Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was an alumnae of Elizabeth City State University. She was a member of the N.C. Educators Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Nubin of Fayetteville; a brother, Jeff Davis McNair of Plymouth; two sisters, Ada M. Davenport of Roper and Mary Francis M. Norman of Plymouth and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two bothers, James Earl McNair and Willie McNair, and two sisters, Gladys McNair and Gertrude Bell.
