GREENVILLE — As a linebacker, Gerald Lawrence was used to putting the licks on people. Though he has switched to the other side of the field, the East Carolina fullback still plans to deliver some punishment.
The 5-10, 220-pound junior made the switch to fullback with the hopes of getting on the field immediately.
Lawrence, who transferred to ECU from Elizabeth City State University two years ago, is gradually making the transition from linebacker to fullback.
ECU head coach Skip Holtz said Lawrence was in favor of the position change.
Lawrence missed some winter workouts and has some catching up to do, but he’ll get a fair shot at making the squad.
Lawrence, who was a football and wrestling standout with the Washington Pam Pack, is ready to tackle his opportunity.
After not suiting up for a couple years, Lawrence is anxious to get back on the field for some game action.
