Washington police responded to several reports of larcenies from motor vehicles in the Smallwood and Kingswood neighborhoods Monday morning.
“These appear to be opportunity crimes where victims left vehicles unlocked and items were taken,” reads an email from the Washington Police Department. “Investigators are seeking any help that may aid in the investigation. If you have discovered something missing and haven’t reported it, please do so.”
Anyone with information that may be helpful to these investigations is asked to call The Washington Police Department at 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers 252-974-6400.
“As always, we want everyone to feel secure in their homes and on their property, but we always encourage crime prevention techniques that may help prevent becoming a victim,” the email reads. “Remembering to do small things like locking cars and outbuildings is the first step. Also, using motion-activated security lighting, not leaving valuable items like iPods, laptops, GPS units and other electronics in view will aid in preventing thefts.
