Mrs. Carrie Gardner Corey, 83, of Plymouth died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Washington County Hospital, Plymouth.
Born September 23, 1925 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Willie W. Gardner and Mary Florence Moore Gardner and was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Mae Gardner and brother, Robert Gardner.
Her family includes her son, Billy Corey and wife Sharon of Roper, N.C.; daughter, Myrtle C. Toler and husband Charles of New Bern, N.C.; beloved friend and companion, Don Hobbs of Hobbsville, N.C.; sister, Arbell G. Holiday of Colonial Heights, Va.; sister-in-law, Lillie Bell Gardner of Plymouth, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryan McIntire of Creswell, N.C., Melissa Cowan of New Bern, N.C., Connie Atkinson of Raleigh, N.C., and Timmy Corey of Williamston, N.C.; great grandchildren, Brittany Leary, David Davenport, Michael Cowan, Corey Atkinson, Hayes Atkinson, Megan Corey and Sarah Corey and great-great grandchild, Brylie Leary.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth with Bob Moulden officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Maitland Memorial Chapel and other times at the residence of her son. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
