So here we are again — another Fourth of July.
Americans, no doubt are ready for this one — ready to show off their country, despite its troubles.
And we have them: Wars in two countries and threats from others, a new president still getting his feet wet, revelations of unsavory conduct from high-ranking politicians, and , of course, our economic meltdown.
But we’ve been here before, haven’t we? We’re not the most resilient country in the world because we can’t overcome adversity. Right?
Right.
It might take awhile longer to get through all this junk, but the more complex the society the more complex the potential problems — and that’s true especially in a democracy.
So, take this patriotic day and buff up your red, white and blue. If America’s colonists could establish this country and make it their own, we can certainly honor their legacy.
