Mrs. Margaret M. Ambrose

Mrs. Margaret Ellen Mason Ambrose, age 87, formerly a resident of Village Circle, Washington, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by C.W. Moore. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Ambrose was born in Halifax County on July 16, 1924, to the late Sylvinus and Nora Evans Mason. On Dec. 8, 1939, she married Ernest E. Ambrose who preceded her death. Mrs. Ambrose was a member of Everett’s Crossroads Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher and with Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Washington Women of the Moose.

Survivors include two sons, Carlton Ambrose and wife Betty of Pinetown; Billy Ambrose of Morgantown; two daughters, Ellen Cornelius of Greenville; Patricia Jones and husband John of Ivor, Va.; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward Ambrose; two brothers, O’Dell Mason, Cecil Mason; and two sisters, Doris Andrews and Carolyn Boyd.
