Elvis Sisk Carawan, age 66, of Ft. White, FL, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1943 in Washington to Archie Brinson and Grace Moore Carawan. He loved woodworking and worked as a carpenter prior to working at Hunter Marine for the last 15 years in research and development. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline Harney Carawan; mother, Grace Carawan of Hyde County; 4 daughters, Donna (Mike) Shelby of Lebanon, TN, Cindy (Buddy) Roban of Ft. White, FL, Gail (Randy) Cavender of Cushion, AZ and Cheryl (Randy) Shafor of Casselberry, FL; son, Bill (Sandra) Carawan of Ft. White; 3 sisters, Gracie (Willie) ONeal of Belhaven, Sharon (John) Cummiss of New Market, TN and Christie (Larry) Fillyaw of Elizabeth City; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Church 16916 N.W. Hwy 441 High Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Palliative Care Unit c/o Malcom Randall VA Medical Center 1601 S.W. Archer Road Gainesville, FL 32608.
Arrangements are under the care of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown 404 North Main Street.
